About the Louisiana Oyster Jubilee
The Louisiana Oyster Jubilee is a vibrant and wonderfully atmospheric celebration that brings together fans of the unique culture of Louisiana—its music, gastronomy, and the living energy of New Orleans—year after year. The event takes place in the heart of the legendary French Quarter, where historic streets come alive with the rhythm of jazz, the aroma of freshly prepared oysters, and the cheerful buzz of festival crowds.
The festival was founded in 2007 by New Orleans Musical Legends, Inc. in collaboration with the Louisiana Seafood Promotion & Marketing Board. Its mission is to promote local musical and culinary heritage, support the fishing community, and preserve the cultural traditions that attract visitors from all over the world. Each year the event grows larger, drawing more participants and guests, and has already become one of the most beloved New Orleans traditions.
One of the most famous and highly anticipated highlights of the celebration is the creation of the Longest Oyster Po-boy — the iconic New Orleans sandwich filled with fresh Louisiana oysters. Several renowned restaurants of the French Quarter join forces to craft a truly spectacular po-boy that stretches almost an entire city block! Visitors can watch as dozens of chefs work side by side, turning the street into a massive open kitchen.
